and model search.
Pageants, Contest and Searches.
Beauty Pageants have long served the
purpose of advertising and exhibitionism. It is assumable that they will
never wane in popularity. More than two billion people every year watch
pageants on television alone. The various titles may change hands and the
purveyors may come and go, but the concept has been and will always be
here. The earliest recorded beauty pageants were held over 3000 years ago.
Our definition of a beautiful woman is one who appears healthy, fit and
has a positive attitude. Attractiveness is a matter of personal opinion
only and does not necessarily contribute to a woman's beauty. While this
is our definition, it may not be yours and we are sure you will agree that
here is no single answer to the question "what represents true beauty in a
woman"?
Contestants in beauty pageants seek
recognition, acceptance and benefit. Those who win major pageants today
are granted instant “legend” status and all the accompaniments thereof.
There is no logical reason why women who seek recognition, acceptance
and other benefits should not participate in these events. Many women
understand that there are personal, community and social benefits that
fused the beauty pageant into our modern society a very long time ago. The
only irritant that thwarts women from participating in these fulfilling
activities is the use of judgment criteria, and the various negative
byproducts they spawn like “eating disorder epidemics”, “negative
stereotypes” and the like.
To understand all of this you must first
understand: beauty standards differentiate by latitude and longitude, so
there is no way that a classic beauty pageant or model search, with
limited entry from selected areas and then judged by selected individuals
could properly identify the ultimate beauty queen or a winner of a global
model search. The closest you could get for a true result would be who had
the most votes. Unless, the criteria for selecting a winner were so
extensive (much too extensive to ever be useful for practical
applications, such as beauty pageant or model search judging), that they
could cover every possible area one could find fault in, according to
general consensus. Obviously the solution here is not to use any specific
judgment guidelines for selecting a pageant winner since that in and of
itself, would be a limiting factor.
People by nature are judgmental and are
easily coerced into voting. Actually, we Love it. Our governments, legal
systems and most other mechanisms are controlled by voting since this is
the easiest way to find out what the general consensus actually is. Once
you know that, it becomes very easy to “give the people what they want”.
Today, with the advent of social networking and the popularization of the
mass poll by advertising juggernauts like American Idol and Myspace.com,
it has become common place to determine difficult things by using more
than one vote. Actually, it has become the preferred way to determine
choices like…”Who is the winner” ?
People will normally vote as they wish
until they encounter stress. The stress applied can be as little as “were
looking for a fit, attractive and healthy body type that is appealing to
western marketing standards for beauty as defined by x magazine, x show
and x advertiser”, furthermore “we are looking for someone who will be
able to perform as a this, that or the other” and furthermore “we are
looking for”…etc ad infinitum.
So, we know voting works in large
numbers, the definition of beauty is different for each person and that
"we" like to pass judgment. What now?
The internet is the next most powerful
and widest spread communications medium to come into existence since the
invention of radio technology over a century ago. People love being
"online". The internet will eventually replace all types of communications
and media delivery, other than radio. While this change may take
generations, it is inevitable. Television, Telephone, Print etc…have
little chance at ever re-gaining market share since they involve too much
logistical overhead including the cost associated with having to worry
about aesthetics and convenience.
The concepts involved with an Internet or
"Online" Beauty Pageant are not new and have been around since the early
90’s when several Internet Beauty Pageant sites like 'Miss Net' were
placed online and people saw that a beauty pageant or model search over
the internet was a logical evolution. The problem back then was that there
were very few people logged online, to the Internet. Today, Internet usage
is around sixty (60%) percent of the global population or roughly 3.5
billion people. In the future, Internet usage will rise and nearly
everyone will be “online” nearly all the time...but this is at least 10
years away.
An Internet Beauty Pageant (sometimes
called an “online beauty pageant or model search”) involving as many
judges and contestants as possible, is the only feasible mechanism to find
out who is ‘The Ultimate Beauty Queen’ and next ‘Top Model’. Internet
Beauty Pageants actually allow participation on a much larger scale by
women who may not have wanted to or were unable to devote substantial time
and resources to pursuing such goals previously. This newest form of
pageant offers a more accurate and fair system for selecting a winner,
which is the use of an internet sized cross-section of judges who vote
online using nothing more than a 1 to 10 rating system and their personal
opinions.
Our pageant is the modern day
manifestation of the classic pageant concept of selecting a beautiful
woman as the winner of a contest based on appearance and personality.
Beauty pageant winners traditionally have been those who have pursued such
goals by participating in said events, sometimes at great personal
sacrifice and financial burden.
There are an innumerable number of
beautiful women on the planet who do not participate in these classic
events due to many of the factors detailed here. Well, we decided to change that. Join us and “Support your
local beauty queen” ©
2005 as she competes along with
movie stars, models, queens of industry and other beautiful women from
around the globe in the greatest ‘Internet
Beauty Pageant’ of all time. Welcome to the future.
